At the B2B Centre I’m working with KSBKids, who sell Scandinavian & Danish children’s clothes online.  We’re looking into the possibility of using Google’s Merchant Center to increase the website’s visibility and increase traffic.  KSBKids is already effectively using social media to increase the visibility of their company on the web.  Twitter, Facebook and blogging lead the way in their social media campaign.  Check out their website for an example of how small companies can use tools like Facebook to improve their business.

B2B Centre wins Institute of Business Consulting Award

2009 December 12

B2B Centre wins Institute of Business Consulting Award It was great news to hear the news on the way to SES Chicago that we (The National B2B Centre) won the prestigious Regional Consultancy Practice of the Year award at the Institute of Business Consulting annual awards ceremony in London on Thursday.

What was particularly pleasing was that the submission and citations were made entirely by our clients, not by us!

Martin King-Turner is pictured picking up the award.

Social Media WorkshopYesterday we ran our first ever social media workshop at the B2B Centre, following up from our successful social media event back in spring time.  We had a very good turn out for the free workshop with 15 companies attending on the day, all of which had varying levels of social media knowledge and provided some interesting discussions. Gareth Edwards was particularly pleased with the Success Audit exercise, which I agree went down very well with the attendees.

Running an Advanced Google Analytics Workshop tomorrow at the B2B Centre with James Pennington, we have 12 companies attending with a huge waiting list so we’ll have to run the workshop again later on in the year. It’s great to see many companies in the West Midlands region realise the need to understand what is going on with their website and are keen to learn how to use Google’s tools.  Hopefully everyone with take something away tomorrow and start doing something with they’re Analytic reports, no matter how basic it is.

Harco Engineering have started promoting themselves, their expertise and the equipment they have on Flickr. Having many professional shots of the work they undertake and the tools and machine at their disposal allows them to promote themselves on Flickr as experts and leaders in the machining of ferrous and non ferrous components. Harco have followed the simple golden rules of social media:

  • They’ve used their company name as their username,
  • Used their logo as their profile picture,
  • Chosen a sensible vanity URL, which is their company name
  • Filled in the profile

Once the new site is live, they will have links back from their profile to the website and the photos on Flickr will be a integral part of the website creating a Gallery allowing visitors to see their lastest photos.
